Our Story

There’s nothing quite like the roar of supporters at a Sounders match. From my first match watching Marcus Hahnemann and the A-League Sounders at Memorial Stadium, I was hooked. The thrill of the game, the camaraderie of the fans, the spirit of Seattle. It all became a part of me.

I cheered on the Sounders through their final USL clash with the Timbers and their first meeting in MLS. I’ve celebrated with family, friends, and newly met supporters as the Sounders won the U.S. Open Cup, MLS Cup, CONCACAF Champions League, and Leagues Cup. My journey as a supporter is as unique as every fan’s.

Named for the year professional soccer came to Seattle, I launched bornin74.com before the 2017 season as a way to stay connected to other supporters while I was living out of state. But it was more than just a way to stay connected, it was a way to express my love for the game and my city. Disappointed with the official 2018 and 2020 kits, I created the “Our Sound” kit in 2021. What started as a personal project quickly became an annual tradition with the “From the Deep” and “Ring of Fire” kits in 2022 and 2023. With my return to Seattle, my fandom grew to include the Reign, Defiance, and Ballard FC. Asked time and again by supporters where they could purchase one of my custom kits, I realized that I had more to share than just my jersey designs.

The EBFG collection is my expression of love for the beautiful game, the Emerald City, and Cascadia. It is a reflection of my supporter’s journey that I hope will resonate with you.

The Born in ’74 crest is a symbol that connects our brand to the game that we support. Shaped like a front on view of a ship, it honors the vessels that have sailed our waterways for generations. The colors “Seafoam,” “Ever,” and “Fathom” reflect the natural beauty of our region. The wave pattern symbolizes the dynamic and ever-changing waters that define our landscape. At the heart of the crest stands a Western Hemlock tree, the state tree of Washington, representing our deep connection to the land and our commitment to sustainability.

The Born in ’74 logo is a celebration of our connection to the Pacific Northwest. The dorsal fin of an Orca between the letters ‘B’ and ’74’ represents the iconic marine life that inhabits our waters. The wave bisecting the letters symbolizes the dynamic and ever-changing waterways that define our region. Using the “Fathom” and “Seafoam” brand colors, the logo embodies the spirit and beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
